Google Ads & Maps for Roofers

Google Ads for roofers. More roof replacements, fewer tire-kickers.

Roofing is one of the most expensive categories on Google, and most roofing campaigns waste a big part of the budget on repair shoppers, DIYers and job seekers. I build campaigns that put your money behind replacements, leak repairs and storm damage from homeowners ready to hire.

What can I help with?

What homeowners type

How customers search for roofers

These are the kinds of searches I build campaigns around, each with its own ads and its own list of searches to block.

  • roofer near me
  • roof replacement cost
  • roof leak repair near me
  • roofing company san diego
  • roof inspection near me
  • tile roof repair

The jobs I'll go after for you

  • Roof replacementsYour biggest tickets, with their own campaign and budget.
  • Leak repairsUrgent calls that often turn into a replacement quote.
  • Storm and wind damageFast response matters, and so does your insurance experience.
  • Tile and shingle roofsSeparate ads for the roof types you install.
  • Inspections and certificationsHome sales and insurance renewals bring steady inspection work.
  • Commercial and flat roofsProperty managers and businesses in their own campaign.
Why it's different

What works for roofers

Replacements get the budget

One replacement is worth dozens of small repairs. Replacement searches get their own campaign, so they never fight repairs for the same budget.

Block the DIY and job seekers

“Roofing jobs,” “how to fix a roof leak,” “shingles price” and “roofing materials” get blocked so you only pay for homeowners hiring a roofer.

Lead with your license

Homeowners want a licensed, insured roofer on their house. Your C-39 license, insurance and warranty belong in the ad and on the page.

Show real roofs

Photos of roofs you finished, in the ad and on the page, do more than any slogan. Homeowners want to see your work before they call.

Where your next job comes from

Shared leads vs. customers who chose you

A new roof is one of the biggest checks a homeowner writes, and after a storm everyone calls roofers at once. Where they find you decides whether you're the trusted roofer or one of five quotes.

Yelp, Thumbtack, Angi, Houzz

Compared side by side

You're one of several

On Angi, a roof replacement request is sold to several roofers at once, and on Thumbtack homeowners usually contact a few from a list. On a big-ticket job, that means competing on price with every roofer who bought the same lead.

Google Ads

Chosen and called

They picked you

A homeowner with a leak or a 25-year-old roof searches, sees your ad with your license, reviews and real roofs, and calls. They picked you before talking to anyone else.

ChatGPT

Recommended

The closest thing to a referral

Homeowners ask ChatGPT whether to repair or replace their roof, what it costs and who does good work nearby. When the answer names your company, you start the conversation as the roofer they were told about.

Most roof replacements get more than one quote. The goal is to be the roofer they called first, not the last name on a list.

The Triple Stack

Your business, three times on page one. Same search, same moment.

When Google Ads and an optimized Google Business Profile run together, you can show up three times for the same search: a sponsored Search ad at the top, a sponsored pin in Google Maps, and your organic listing in the Map Pack.

The example below is a real search for one of my clients, a licensed stucco contractor in San Diego. The trade is different, but the setup is exactly the same, and it's what I build for roofers too.

How it works

Three steps to ads that make the phone ring

  1. 1

    Your free video review

I record my screen and walk through where you stand: your Google Ads account if you have one, your Google Business Profile, a Local Falcon map of your rankings, and how you show up when someone asks ChatGPT. You watch it before we ever talk.

  2. 2

    Strategy call

Phone or Google Meet. We review what's working, where budget is being lost, and what I recommend changing. You leave with a clear plan whether you hire me or not.

  3. 3

    I build and manage

I build your campaigns from scratch or take over the ones you have. Month-to-month, no long-term contract, and you can reach me directly any time.

You work directly with me. Not an account manager.

Francisco Meza · Founder, Planet Marketing · San Diego, CA

I've managed Google Ads and paid search for service businesses since 2006. Contractors, medical practices, law firms, private schools, home services: I've run campaigns for all of them.

When you hire Planet Marketing, your account is never passed to a junior account manager. I build your campaigns, I manage them every month, and I'm the one you call or text. If you're in San Diego or Southern California, I'm happy to meet in person.

Sometimes you just need someone you can trust.

Free Google Maps scan for roofers

Tell me which business to check and which search matters most. I'll run a Local Falcon scan across your service area and show you exactly where you show up, and where you don't.

  • A ranking map of your area, spot by spot
  • The competitors beating you, side by side
  • A game plan to climb into the top 3

I've been working with Francisco & Planet Marketing for over 15 years and across multiple companies. Initially it was a company where his expertise in elevating our Craigslist & eBay posts helped us corner a highly competitive market. The next few times we worked together it was for different SEO/SEM/PPC needs and each time he out produced expectations. He's constantly been at the forefront each time the marketing landscape changes and with the roll out of ChatGPT & Gemini, he's there helping me once again gobble up market share. I highly recommend Francisco & Planet Marketing!

Francisco is a rare find. On the one hand, he has 20 years of experience, on the other, he has his feet firmly planted in the future. My meeting with him today was highly, highly productive. He has the kind of knowledge where he can show you where the systems weak points are, and how to work around them, all while being budget conscious. I think what makes him tick is when he beats the entrenched companies at their own game. I look forward to a long business arrangement with him.

Francisco at Planet Marketing was fantastic to work with! He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and quick to respond. He took the time to thoroughly analyze my marketing needs and clearly explain his services and the entire process. He also provided pricing right away, which I really appreciated. I’m still at the beginning of my search for marketing services, but Francisco has already made an excellent impression. He clearly knows his business and genuinely cares about providing great customer service. I highly recommend Francisco and Planet Marketing for all your marketing needs!

Questions

Questions roofers ask me

How much should a roofer spend on Google Ads?

Enough to learn what works. Roofing clicks cost more than most trades, so at $100 a month Google sends only a few, and there's nothing to learn from. At around $1,000 a month, I can see which searches bring replacements and which bring small repairs and price shoppers, then move money from the losers to the keywords that turn into signed jobs. That money goes to Google, not to me, and my fee is separate. I'll give you a realistic number for your area before you spend anything.

How much does Google Ads cost per click?

Here are real numbers from Google's Keyword Planner for San Diego (November 2026). To show at the top of the page, advertisers bid about $15 to $57 for “roofer near me” and $19 to $76 for “roofing company san diego”. Searches about price, like “roof replacement cost,” run $4 to $14. Those are Google's estimates, not what you have to pay. I set bids by hand, and I regularly get clicks for less than Google suggests. Fill out the form and I'll pull the numbers for your neighborhood in San Diego and record a short video showing what those clicks cost there. I only target searches from people ready to hire, and I block DIY and job-seeker searches like “how to fix a roof leak” and “roofing jobs”, so you don't pay for clicks that never turn into jobs.

Can you separate repairs from replacements?

Yes. Replacement and repair searches get their own campaigns, ads and budgets, so you decide how much goes to each. If you only want replacements, I can cut back on small repair searches.

Do you run ads for storm damage and insurance work?

Yes, if it's work you want. Storm damage searches get their own ads, and your insurance and claims experience goes in the ad so homeowners know you can handle it.

Should I keep buying leads from lead platforms?

That's your call. Many contractors keep a smaller budget on lead platforms and move the rest to Google Ads and Maps, where the homeowner finds and calls them directly.

How quickly will I start getting calls?

Most well-built home service campaigns produce calls in the first 1–2 weeks. The first month is about learning which searches turn into jobs. By month two, call volume and cost per lead usually improve noticeably.

Is there a contract?

No. Everything is month-to-month. Google Ads takes 60–90 days to fully optimize, so I ask that you give it that long before judging, but you're never locked in.
