Google Ads & Maps for Pest Control

Google Ads for pest control. Calls that turn into service plans.

Current client: Cal Coast Pest Management. I manage their ads and built their website.

Ants, rodents, termites and bed bugs. Homeowners want the problem gone fast, and the company they call first often keeps them on a service plan for years. I build campaigns that make sure that first call is to you.

What can I help with?

What homeowners type

How customers search for pest control companies

These are the kinds of searches I build campaigns around, each with its own ads and its own list of searches to block.

  • pest control near me
  • exterminator near me
  • termite inspection san diego
  • rodent removal near me
  • bed bug treatment cost
  • ant exterminator

The jobs I'll go after for you

  • Recurring service plansMonthly or quarterly service, the steadiest revenue in the business.
  • Termite inspections and treatmentHigh-value work, often tied to home sales and escrow.
  • Rodent controlUrgent calls from homeowners who want it handled now.
  • Bed bugsHigh urgency and bigger tickets.
  • Ants, roaches and spidersThe everyday calls that start long-term customers.
  • Commercial accountsRestaurants, property managers and offices on contract.
Why it's different

What works for pest control companies

Lead with your license

Homeowners want a licensed, insured company treating the home where their kids and pets live. Your Structural Pest Control Board license belongs in the ad and on the page.

Answer while it's urgent

Nobody waits a week on rodents or bed bugs. Call-first ads that run during the hours you answer convert best.

Block the DIY shoppers

“How to get rid of ants,” “best roach spray” and “DIY termite treatment” get blocked so you only pay for people hiring a pro.

Sell the service plan

The first call is the start. Ads and landing pages can lead with quarterly plans, and tracking shows which searches turn into recurring customers.

Where your next job comes from

Shared leads vs. customers who chose you

Pest problems feel urgent, and the right company can keep a customer for years on a service plan. Where that first call comes from shapes the whole relationship.

Yelp, Thumbtack, Angi, Houzz

Compared side by side

You're one of several

On Thumbtack, a homeowner with ants or rodents usually contacts a few exterminators from a list, and on Angi the same request is sold to several companies at once. One of my pest control clients told me Thumbtack used to work well for him, but now he's quoting against a crowd for every job.

Google Ads

Chosen and called

They picked you

Someone who just found termite damage or mice in the garage searches, sees your ad with your license and reviews, and calls right away. That first call can turn into a quarterly service plan, not just a one-time treatment.

ChatGPT

Recommended

The closest thing to a referral

Homeowners ask ChatGPT things like “are these termites, and who should I call?” When it names your company, you're the expert they trust before they've talked to anyone else.

In pest control, the real value is the customer who stays on a service plan for years. That relationship starts best when they chose you.

The Triple Stack

Your business, three times on page one. Same search, same moment.

When Google Ads and an optimized Google Business Profile run together, you can show up three times for the same search: a sponsored Search ad at the top, a sponsored pin in Google Maps, and your organic listing in the Map Pack.

The example below is a real search for one of my clients, a licensed stucco contractor in San Diego. The trade is different, but the setup is exactly the same, and it's what I build for pest control companies too.

How it works

Three steps to ads that make the phone ring

  1. 1

    Your free video review

I record my screen and walk through where you stand: your Google Ads account if you have one, your Google Business Profile, a Local Falcon map of your rankings, and how you show up when someone asks ChatGPT. You watch it before we ever talk.

  2. 2

    Strategy call

Phone or Google Meet. We review what's working, where budget is being lost, and what I recommend changing. You leave with a clear plan whether you hire me or not.

  3. 3

    I build and manage

I build your campaigns from scratch or take over the ones you have. Month-to-month, no long-term contract, and you can reach me directly any time.

Who you're working with

You work directly with me. Not an account manager.

Francisco Meza · Founder, Planet Marketing · San Diego, CA

I've managed Google Ads and paid search for service businesses since 2006. Contractors, medical practices, law firms, private schools, home services: I've run campaigns for all of them.

When you hire Planet Marketing, your account is never passed to a junior account manager. I build your campaigns, I manage them every month, and I'm the one you call or text. If you're in San Diego or Southern California, I'm happy to meet in person.

Sometimes you just need someone you can trust.

I was struggling with trying to market my electrical contracting business. So when I was using ChatGPT to help me with some questions about Google Ads, an ad popped up for Planet Marketing. I clicked the link and connected with Francisco. This has been a game changer for me!! He’s built me a professional website. Developed professional campaigns on both Google Ads and ChatGPT. Best of all I have received more QUALIFIED LEADS that I can easily convert! Highly recommend working with Francisco!!

I've been working with Francisco & Planet Marketing for over 15 years and across multiple companies. Initially it was a company where his expertise in elevating our Craigslist & eBay posts helped us corner a highly competitive market. The next few times we worked together it was for different SEO/SEM/PPC needs and each time he out produced expectations. He's constantly been at the forefront each time the marketing landscape changes and with the roll out of ChatGPT & Gemini, he's there helping me once again gobble up market share. I highly recommend Francisco & Planet Marketing!

Francisco is a rare find. On the one hand, he has 20 years of experience, on the other, he has his feet firmly planted in the future. My meeting with him today was highly, highly productive. He has the kind of knowledge where he can show you where the systems weak points are, and how to work around them, all while being budget conscious. I think what makes him tick is when he beats the entrenched companies at their own game. I look forward to a long business arrangement with him.

Francisco at Planet Marketing was fantastic to work with! He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and quick to respond. He took the time to thoroughly analyze my marketing needs and clearly explain his services and the entire process. He also provided pricing right away, which I really appreciated. I’m still at the beginning of my search for marketing services, but Francisco has already made an excellent impression. He clearly knows his business and genuinely cares about providing great customer service. I highly recommend Francisco and Planet Marketing for all your marketing needs!

Questions

Questions pest control companies ask me

How much should a pest control company spend on Google Ads?

Enough to see which searches pay off. At $100 a month, you get a handful of clicks and no way to tell what's working. At around $1,000 a month, I can see which keywords bring recurring service plans and termite jobs and which bring one-time spray shoppers, then move money from the losers to the keywords that turn into customers. That money goes to Google, not to me, and my fee is separate. I'll give you a realistic number for your area before you spend anything.

How much does Google Ads cost per click?

Here are real numbers from Google's Keyword Planner for San Diego (November 2026). To show at the top of the page, advertisers bid about $18 to $56 for “pest control near me” and $19 to $57 for “termite inspection san diego”. Searches about price, like “bed bug treatment cost,” run $2 to $14. Those are Google's estimates, not what you have to pay. I set bids by hand, and I regularly get clicks for less than Google suggests. Fill out the form and I'll pull the numbers for your neighborhood in San Diego and record a short video showing what those clicks cost there. I only target searches from people ready to hire, and I block DIY and job-seeker searches like “DIY ant killer” and “pest control jobs”, so you don't pay for clicks that never turn into jobs.

Can you show my ads to homeowners before they search?

Yes. Google has a built-in audience called “Pest Control Services”: people interested in hiring a professional for termites, insects or mice. On Search, I use it to bid more for those homeowners. With YouTube and display ads, I can reach them before they ever search. Whether that's worth it depends on how many of them Google can reach in your service area, and I check that in your free review.

This is a screenshot straight from Google Ads. Google says these people are in the market to hire a pest control company.

Google Ads in-market audience: Pest Control Services
Should I keep using Thumbtack?

That's your call. Many of my clients keep a smaller budget on lead platforms and move the rest to Google Ads and Maps, where the customer finds and calls them directly.

Can you promote service plans instead of one-time jobs?

Yes. Ads and landing pages can lead with your monthly or quarterly plans, and tracking shows which searches turn into recurring customers.

How quickly will I start getting calls?

Most well-built home service campaigns produce calls in the first 1–2 weeks. The first month is about learning which searches turn into jobs. By month two, call volume and cost per lead usually improve noticeably.

Is there a contract?

No. Everything is month-to-month. Google Ads takes 60–90 days to fully optimize, so I ask that you give it that long before judging, but you're never locked in.
