YouTube Ads Management
Become the Face Everyone
Recognizes Before They
Ever Need You.
Most businesses wait for customers to find them. YouTube Ads put your face in front of the right people — in your neighborhood, your city, your market — before they ever search for what you sell. When they finally need you, they already know you. Reach the right target audience directly in their cell phone & desktop! We don’t just manage YouTube ads for clients. We run them ourselves.

The Strategy
The Local Celebrity Strategy —
How YouTube Ads Work for
Service Businesses
Television used to be the only way to put your face in front of a local audience. A 30-second TV spot cost $5,000–$50,000 and you couldn’t target anyone specifically. YouTube changed everything.
Imagine This:
You’re an accountant in San Diego. You run YouTube ads targeting a 5-mile radius around your office. Every person within that radius who watches YouTube — which is almost everyone — starts seeing your face before their videos.
At the grocery store, someone recognizes you. At the school pickup line. At the gym. They’ve never met you but they feel like they know you. When tax season comes and they need an accountant — they call you. Not because you outranked someone on Google. Because you’re the face they trust.
That’s the local celebrity strategy. And it works for any local service business — dentists, chiropractors, attorneys, financial advisors, contractors, HVAC companies. Anyone whose customers are within driving distance.
The math that makes this possible:
A 5-mile radius around most suburban offices covers 50,000–200,000 people. At under $1 per view, you can reach your entire local market for a fraction of what a single TV spot used to cost — and you only pay when someone actually watches.
✓ What happens when they need you:
They’ve already seen your face
Before they ever searched for your service, they’ve seen your YouTube ad multiple times. Familiarity builds trust faster than any review or ranking ever could.
They search your name directly
Instead of searching “dentist near me” and picking whoever ranks first, they search YOUR name specifically. That’s a warm lead who has already decided they want you.
Your Google Ads capture them
When they search your name or your service, your Google Search ad is waiting. YouTube builds the awareness. Google Ads captures the intent. Together they’re unstoppable.
Budget Protection
Google Wants to Spend Your Budget
Everywhere. We Don’t Let Them.
By default Google enables every network they own when you run a campaign — Display, Discover, Gmail, Search Partners, Google TV. Most of these networks are a complete waste of money for service businesses. Here’s exactly what we turn off and why.
🚫Search Partners — Off
Google shows your ads on third-party websites that license their search technology. Quality is inconsistent, conversion rates drop, and you have zero control over where your ads appear. We turn this off by default for every client.
🚫Display Network — Off
Someone reading a blog post about home renovation is not the same as someone searching “roofer near me.” Display reaches people who are browsing — not buying. Display belongs in a separate awareness campaign with a separate budget, not mixed into your search spend.
🚫Discover — Off
Google’s content feed targets people scrolling through topics they find interesting — not people looking to hire anyone. Clicks are cheap but they almost never convert for service businesses. We tested it. We turned it off.
🚫Gmail Ads — Off
Gmail ads interrupt people’s inboxes with a fake email. Engagement rates for local service businesses are negligible. Nobody is checking their Gmail and decides on impulse to book a dental appointment. This placement is off for every service business client we manage.
🚫Google TV — Off
Brand awareness only. No direct response value for service businesses. If you’re a national brand running a Super Bowl strategy, maybe. If you’re a local contractor trying to generate calls, this is pure waste. Off.
✅YouTube — On (Intentionally)
YouTube is the only Google-owned network where video advertising makes deliberate sense for service businesses. Not because Google defaults it on — but because we choose it intentionally, with specific placement controls, audience targeting, and creative strategy built around your business goals.
Our Job Is to Protect Your Budget — Not Spend It
Google’s default settings are optimized for Google’s revenue. Our job is to be adversarial toward those defaults on your behalf — turning off what doesn’t work, concentrating spend on what does, and making sure every dollar you invest is working as hard as possible to generate real leads and real calls.
The Campaign Type
Why We Use Demand Gen —
Not Standard Video Campaigns
There are multiple ways to run YouTube ads. Most agencies default to whatever is easiest to set up. We use Demand Gen — Google’s most advanced video campaign type — because it gives us the controls that matter for service businesses.
What Demand Gen does differently:
Google Search Ads are the most powerful enrollment tool available to private schools — precisely because they don’t depend on reviews, star ratings, or Maps optimization. Here’s why:

PLANET MARKETING AD
🛡️ We monitor every placement separately and make deliberate decisions about where your budget runs. Shorts worked for us visually — but delivered zero views for a B2B marketing audience, so we turned it off. For a local restaurant, gym, or retail brand targeting 18–35 year olds, Shorts might be your best placement. The right placement depends on your industry, your audience, and your goal — not on what Google defaults to. That’s the difference between a managed campaign and one running on autopilot.

The Creative
You Have 5 Seconds Before
They Can Skip Your Ad.
Make Them Count.
Most businesses make terrible YouTube ads because they lead with their logo, their company name, or a generic tagline. By the time they get to the point, the viewer has already hit Skip. The first 5 seconds of your ad determine everything.
❌What kills a YouTube ad in 5 seconds:
✓ What keeps them watching:
We help with the strategy. You supply the video.
We’re not a video production company — we don’t film or edit your ad. What we do is advise you on the creative strategy before you film: what to say in the first 5 seconds, how to structure the hook, what call to action to use, and how long the video should be.
Many of our clients film their own ads on a smartphone. Francisco filmed his own YouTube ad in a park in San Diego. It’s running right now and generating leads. You don’t need a production budget — you need the right message.
💡Already have a video?
Send it to us before we start. We’ll review the first 5 seconds and give you honest feedback on whether it will hold attention — before you spend a dollar running it.
the power combo
YouTube Builds Awareness.
Google Search Captures Intent.
Together They’re Unstoppable.
Most businesses run YouTube ads OR Google Search ads. The businesses that win run both — because they
work together in a way that multiplies the results of each.
📺
Step 1 — YouTube Ad
Your target audience sees your face and your offer while watching YouTube. They may not need you today — but your face is now familiar.
🔍
Step 2 — They Search
Three weeks later their AC breaks. They go to Google. Instead of searching “HVAC near me” generically — they search YOUR name because they remember seeing you.
📞
Step 3 — Google Captures Them
Your Google Search ad appears at the top for your name. They click. They call. The YouTube ad did the awareness work. Google Ads closed the deal.
The remarketing layer that most businesses miss
We also set up YouTube remarketing — showing your video ad specifically to people who already visited your website but didn’t convert. These are warm prospects who know you exist and just need another nudge. Remarketing audiences on YouTube are cheap to reach and convert at dramatically higher rates than cold audiences. It’s one of the most underused tactics in local service business advertising.

The ad previews at the top of this page are real. That’s me, on camera, in a park in San Diego, running a Demand Gen YouTube campaign for Planet Marketing. I filmed it on my own. I built the campaign myself. It’s generating leads right now.
I’m not showing you a case study from a client I worked with three years ago. I’m showing you what I’m actively doing — the same strategy I’ll build for your business. When you hire Planet Marketing for YouTube Ads, you’re working directly with the person whose face is on the ad.

The Process
How We Launch Your
YouTube Ads Campaign
Strategy Call
We get on a call and I assess whether YouTube Ads are the right fit for your business right now. I’ll tell you honestly if Google Search should come first. If YouTube is the right call, I walk you through targeting, creative strategy, and what your first 5 seconds should say.
You Film. We Advise.
You film your ad — on your phone, in your office, wherever feels natural. We review your first 5 seconds before you do anything else and give you specific feedback. Once the creative is right, we set up the Demand Gen campaign with proper targeting, placement controls, and conversion tracking.
We Launch & Optimize
Campaign goes live. We monitor placement performance, audience response, and view-through rates weekly. We cut what doesn’t work — including specific placements, audiences, and times of day — and double down on what does. Monthly reporting, direct access to me, no long-term contracts.

Placement Management
We control exactly where your ad runs — In-stream, In-feed, or Shorts — and monitor performance on each placement separately. Anything that underperforms gets cut immediately.
🛡️
Network Waste Protection
Search Partners, Display, Discover, Gmail, Google TV — all off. Your budget runs on YouTube only, where the targeting is intentional and the placements are controlled.
📊
View & Conversion Tracking
We track view rates, cost per view, watch percentages, and downstream conversions — so you can see exactly what your YouTube campaign is generating beyond just impressions.
🔄
Remarketing Setup
We build a YouTube remarketing audience from your website visitors — so people who’ve already shown interest in your business see your ad again. Cheap to reach, high to convert.
🔍
Google Search Integration
If you’re running Google Search Ads alongside YouTube, we coordinate both campaigns — YouTube builds the awareness, Search captures the intent. The combination outperforms either one alone.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Francisco filmed his own YouTube ad on his phone in a park in San Diego — it’s the ad you see at the top of this page. What matters is the first 5 seconds, the message, and the call to action — not production quality. Authentic, direct-to-camera videos often outperform polished agency productions because they feel real.
One tool that makes a huge difference: a teleprompter app on your phone. Francisco uses one on his own videos — it scrolls your script automatically as you speak, so you can read naturally while looking directly into the camera. No stumbling over words, no losing your place, no nervousness. Free versions work fine to start. The paid version adds voice-activated scrolling — the app listens to your voice and scrolls at exactly the pace you’re speaking, so it feels completely natural on camera.
Search “Teleprompter for Video” in the App Store or Google Play. It’s one of the cheapest and most impactful tools you’ll ever use for video marketing.
We’ll advise you on what to say and how to structure it before you film — so by the time you hit record, you already know exactly what’s coming out of your mouth.
For local businesses targeting a tight geographic radius, a meaningful YouTube presence typically starts at $500–$1,000/month in ad spend. At under $1 per view, that’s 500–1,000 people in your local market watching your ad every month. Combined with management fees, I’ll give you a specific budget recommendation based on your market size and goals on our strategy call.
YouTube is a brand awareness play — it works differently than Google Search Ads. With Search, someone is looking for you right now. With YouTube, you’re building familiarity so they think of you when they need you later. Most clients start seeing brand search lift (people searching their name specifically) within 60–90 days. The local celebrity effect — being recognized in person — typically takes 3–6 months of consistent exposure in a tight radius.
Google Search Ads first — always. Search captures people who are actively looking for what you sell right now. YouTube builds awareness for people who aren’t looking yet. If you don’t have Search running, start there. Once Search is generating consistent leads, add YouTube to build the brand layer on top. That combination is what produces the local celebrity effect over time.
No. Everything is month-to-month. That said, YouTube is a longer-term play than Search — I ask that you give it at least 90 days before drawing conclusions. Brand awareness builds gradually. If you cancel after 30 days you’ll never see the compounding effect that makes YouTube so powerful for local businesses.
