How much should a home services company spend on Google Ads?

It depends on your trade, your service area, and how competitive your local market is. A plumber in San Diego competing for “emergency plumber near me” needs a different budget than a stucco contractor targeting renovation projects. I’ll give you a realistic number for your specific situation on our strategy call — before you spend anything.

How quickly will I start getting calls from Google Ads?

Most well-built home services campaigns start generating calls within the first 1–2 weeks. The first month is about gathering data and tightening targeting — which keywords are converting, which to block, what times are working. By month two you’re usually seeing meaningful improvement in call volume and cost per lead.

My last agency said Google Ads doesn’t work for my trade. Is that true?

No — but a badly built campaign for a home services company absolutely doesn’t work. The most common problems are targeting too broadly (showing ads to people 40 miles outside your service area), missing negative keywords (paying for DIY searches), and sending traffic to a homepage instead of a dedicated landing page. These are fixable problems, not fundamental limitations of the platform.

Do you require a long-term contract?

No. Everything is month-to-month. I don’t believe in locking clients into contracts — if the campaigns are working, you’ll want to stay. If they’re not, you shouldn’t be forced to. That said, Google Ads does take 60–90 days to fully optimize, so I ask that you give it at least 90 days before drawing conclusions.
