Why it’s important to have extra income generation projects
Okay, I am very passionate about this topic, so you are going to have to bear with me. Believe me, this is not just another making money from home article. This is the real deal, because I use all the tips that I give here. Anyway, my name is Francisco, and I am the owner of Planet Marketing. There your terrible boss will be waiting to make your life a living hell. And if you just feel like lying in your bed for the day, your salary will be docked!
Terrible bosses and being slave to a routine that’s set by somebody else is the primary reason why you should be on the hunt for passive sources of income. But what is passive income? Well, this is a subject that I have also covered extensively on this blog. All that I can say here is that passive income is regular income for which you don’t need to put in regular work. That’s the key!
Instead of waking up at a given time and gobbling your breakfast as if you are a lunatic, once you have set up your passive income streams, you will wake up when you want. You could even sleep through the entire day and no bossy boss will be on your case. Heck, you can do most passive income jobs from anywhere. As an example, I sometimes work from the beach and I work when I feel like it. If there is a day that I feel like sleeping through the day, I do it and nobody is going to fire me. Why? Well, simply because I know that I have set up enough passive income sources to make more than enough throughout the month. In fact, even if I were to stop working today, I would still continue earning enough for the rest of my life to live comfortably. Earning a living from home is not easy. In spite of how I may have sounded above, you actually need to put in countless sleepless nights in order to make it work. In fact, there are days when I only sleep a few hours! It’s hard work, but the reward is great. So, how can you make money from home part time? Well, the following tips should help you get started;
Start a blog
Quite a number of the make-money-from-home tips that you will find out there depend on you having your own blog or website, so this should be the first port of call for those that are serious about the subject. The thing to note is that you need not be intimidated. If you are wondering what a blog is, then this website is a good example.
A blog is more or less similar to any other website. The only difference is that with a blog, the content is constantly renewed. In the case of the Planet Marketing site, this process of renewal is what I am doing at the very moment, by writing and publishing fresh content. So, where a website’s content is mostly static, a blog has content that is periodically updated and to which new content is added.
How to start a blog
Blogging is not that mysterious. However, there are a few technical things that you are going to need to go through. But it’s something that you can teach yourself. - You need to come up with a domain name. This can be anything. So, don’t obsess over it.
- You need to buy a domain. Domains cost about $12 per year. I advise your to buy yours alongside your web hosting. Most web hosts offer domains free for the first year.
- You need to get a host for your website. Check out the table at the top for the hosts that I recommend. This website is hosted by Kinsta, but you may not need such as sophisticated web host when getting started.
- You need to set up your website. You have a number of options in this regard. My own site was created using WordPress, which is the most popular CMS. That’s because it’s so easy to use. The other popular option is Joomla.
- Once your site is up and running, you need to begin creating your content. Your content can be about anything; from your pet poodle to raising your kids. Just make sure that your topic can easily be monetized. As an example, if you are a single mom and you decide to blog about housekeeping, this is clearly a topic that you can monetize through Amazon. As an example, you can write about important kitchen utensils for stay at home moms. And then you will include your Amazon Associates links in your content.
Monetizing your blog
So, how does a blog earn you money part time? Well, the good news is that there are a number of ways through which you can monetize your blog. The bad news is that it all takes time. You may not really begin to see results till you have been at it for a year or two. So you should get started RIGHT NOW. And don’t give up along the way. Stick to it and you should begin earning something after a while. Anyway, the following are some of the ways through which you can monetize your blog;

Affiliate marketing is another way through which you can make money from home part time. Affiliate marketing works best if you have your own blog. You can also do affiliate marketing via email, or through social media. Whatever the channel, affiliate marketing only works if you have a steady and relevant audience.
Let’s say, as an example, that your blog is about healthy living. This is a topic that’s broad, and you can write about lots of things. You could, as an example, talk about natural health supplements. In that article, you would then use your Amazon Associates links to promote relevant products. Now, when people buy health supplements from Amazon using your links, you will get paid. In any case, the more people that you have reading your blog, the more the chances that you are going to be able to to convince some of them to buy something from the companies for which you are an affiliate.
Recurring vs once-off affiliate payments
Should you go the affiliate marketing route, you will be better off looking for companies that offer recurring payments. Once off payments when you make a sale are great. However, the best kind of payment is one that assures you continued income for the lifetime of the customer. As an example, I have people that I referred to Shopper Approved more than 5 years ago. I am an affiliate of Shopper Approved by the way. Anyway, I am still getting paid a monthly fee for these people years down the line. It’s one of the reasons why I haven’t needed to work ever since; because hey, even if I decide to sleep for the whole month, I will still get something from my references.
Amazon Associates
I have already referred to Amazon Associates a couple of times above. Amazon Associates is one of the foremost affiliate marketing programs that you will be able to find out there. The great thing about Amazon is that you can find almost any product on there. So, once you have signed up, you can begin selling products that are relevant to your website.
In the example of a stay-at-home mom that I gave above, you could begin selling such products as blenders, air fryers and much more via your blog or via your Social Media pages. If you do it through your blog, you don’t just try to sell things directly to people. You produce content that’s relevant to people’s queries and this content is picked up by Google. And when people read your content, you get the opportunity to convince them to buy from Amazon or from any other company for which you are an affiliate.
Sell pictures
Developments in digital cameras have turned photography into something that’s less of an art than it used to be in years gone by. These days, anybody can become a cameraman. What you many not know is that you can sell some of these photos on the internet. Yes, those old photos that you took while on holiday can be used to generate a little extra income. There are number of stock photo sites on the internet to which you can upload your photos. If you are good enough, people may want to buy from you, and you will be able to supplement your income. Write content for other people
Blogging has really taken off over the past few years, which is why I gave it such a prominent position in this post. However, fact of the matter is that not all people are writers. Go to Amazon today and you will come across thousands of people who have written millions of books, a lot of which are, quite frankly, such and such drivel. These books range from novels to self help books.
However, it’s drivel that pays because, lo and behold, there are people out there that are willing to pay to read something about dinosaurs in miniskirts or talking tarantulas. People have actually become millionaires by writing about such things. And the great thing about self publishing is that they do not need to share the spoils with anybody else. You are mostly your own writer and editor.
Start an eCommerce business
Today, a large chunk of the business that takes place around the world happens online. You can, therefore, use the internet to start your very own online business. Again, this is something that takes a bit of technical knowhow. If you are the hands-on type, you can create your very own site using Magento or Shopify or something else. This may leave you feeling like you are scamming people but really, the feedback that you give them tends to be valuable. The following are some of the types of videos that you can be paid to watch;

This is another one that can leave you feeling as if you are involved in a scam in which you are at the winning end. That’s actually a change right? Under most circumstances, people are usually looking to scam you. In any case, installing apps is a perfectly legitimate way of earning a little bit of extra income from home. There are companies out there that are willing to pay you for installing their apps on your phone. An example is Nielsen Mobile Panel, which allows you to earn up to $50.
Become a freelancer
I have already talked about getting paid to write web content for other people. That is a form of freelancing. You can get lots of freelancing work from platforms such as UpWork, Freelancer and Guru. Note, however, that there are many other freelancing jobs that you can do out there to earn money from home part time. Writing is not the only one. You can, as an example, do the following;

The great thing about freelancing is that you get flexible hours. You do need to keep deadlines, however. So, you need to be honest when negotiating for a job. Don’t say you can do it within such and such hours when you know very well that it’s not possible. Otherwise, you are going to end up tarnishing your reputation.

There is huge demand for the language over there and this is something that many people are doing. The great thing about it all is that you can work flexible hours.
Write reviews
Okay, this may not be very scrupulous, but it’s another way through which you can earn something a bit extra to supplement your income. You can write reviews for such platforms as Yelp and you will be paid. It’s unscrupulous because I believe reviews should be genuine. Anyway, you may be paid to write a review for something that you have bought or used, which is okay, I guess.
Data entry
If you go to platforms such as UpWork, you will discover that there are hoards of people who are looking for people to do data entry on their behalf. Okay, this work may be drab, but you can actually earn something a bit extra by doing it. One thing to note is that you need to have fast typing skills to make it work. The same as transcribing. Trying to make it work if you can only poke on your computer and if you have no requisite typing skills is a recipe for disaster.
