Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business)

Google My Business is now Google Business Profile. Any business, whether it’s a storefront or virtual, can have a Google Business Profile. The only requirement is your ability to make in-person contact with customers.

If you haven’t started your Google Business Profile, create a Google Business Profile here. Filling out all the fields is easy. For the purposes of this article, you’ll need your Google Review link to get Google reviews.

Finding your Google review link is easy once you set up your business profile. You’ll easily be able to get Google reviews for your business.

Steps to get your Google Review Link:

  • Log into your Google Business Profile
  • Select “Home”
  • Under “Get more reviews”, click on “Share review form”
  • Copy your Google review link

Most likely you’ll constantly need to ask for reviews. To save time in the future, bookmark your Google review URL to your browser. Now you don’t have to log into your Google Business Profile every time you need your review link.

3 Ways on How to Get Reviews on Google

Now that you know where to get your Google review link, it’s time to start getting reviews. This process is known as sending review requests. You can do this manually one-by-one, bulk upload contacts via a spreadsheet, or use software to do all the heavy lifting. Sometimes you can automate 100% of the process.

Don’t confuse Google reviews with other Google ratings.

Google Reviews is only for your Google Business Profile. It shows on Google Maps and your business profile. Do not confuse Google reviews with Google seller ratings, product ratings, or data structured rich snippet reviews.

If you need to get good reviews on Google in a short amount of time, you should get a list of all your past customers’ emails and/or phone numbers.

If you are using a CRM, like SalesForce, Pipedrive, Constant Contact, etc., consider finding companies that integrate email blasts and SMS messages with your CRM.

POS Software Automated

If you have a retail storefront, check into your POS (point-of-sale) system. Some of them have a feature where you can send an email and/or SMS text message.

A great example of this is Square’s Customer Engagement Feedback feature. These types of features can gather reviews faster than lightning if you own a cafe, restaurant, bar, grill, etc. You would add it to your template.

In addition, you can put your Google review URL on every receipt. Log into Square > Account Settings > Business Receipts > Custom Text. Make sure to use a URL shortener to shorten the extremely long Google review URL.

Normally for SMS reviews, you’ll need to have less than 150 characters.

Once you start gathering Google reviews, you’ll Google Business Profile will most likely start getting higher rankings.

The hard part of getting reviews for many business owners is that they are busy running their own businesses. Getting reviews is not that hard when you have a system in place. You don’t have to feel timid to ask for a review, which I find many business owners are! Let the software do the work for you.

Sure you can manually copy/paste each SMS or email review request, but you have to do it one-by-one. Who wants to remember to do that each time you have a new customer. If you want to grow your business, you need to use technology to handle small tasks like getting Google reviews for your business.
