What are Star Ratings?

Types of Star Ratings
Types of Star Ratings

Before defining Seller Ratings, we first need to define Star Ratings. We are not going to dwell much on the topic in this article. Should you wish to find more, we refer you to this article in which we talk about getting star ratings in Google AdWords. The only thing that we can mention here is that, roughly speaking, Star Ratings fall into about three categories;

  • Seller Ratings
  • Product Ratings
  • Star Ratings that appear in organic traffic

Seller Ratings, which are the subject of this post, are five star based extensions that are designed to showcase the ratings that businesses have received from their customers. They act as a visual cue, telling potential customers that a particular company is worth trusting. This, in turn, gives a significant boost to a business’ profit margins.

How to get Seller Ratings

Getting Seller Ratings is, as we have already mentioned, the dream of many businesses across the globe. Though the subject may appear difficult at first, the fact of the matter is that you can easily get Seller Ratings to appear in your company’s AdWords ads and in Google Shopping through a number of ways;

  1. Stella Connect
Stella Connect

If you visit the page on which Google explains about Seller Ratings, you will discover that the company states that Stella Connect is one of its main sources for Seller rating extensions. So, what is StellaService and how does the company operate?

About StellaConnect

StellaConnect states that its main objective is “to create a world with better service.” The company offers a variety of products, including Stella Connect and Stella Metrics. Stella Metrics is a service that specializes in the collection of objective data that is aimed at outlining the areas on which stores and ecommerce entities can improve their operations.

Quality of Service

In brief, StellaConnect is all about quality of service. It measures various parameters, including returns, shipping and customer care, to come up with useful suggestions that you can then use to better serve your customers.

Other Sources of Star Ratings

Google does not, in any case, only get the data that it uses on Seller Ratings from StellaConnect. The following are some of the other ways through which you can get Seller Rating extensions;

  1. Google Customer Reviews

The great thing about Google Customer Reviews is that the program is absolutely free. Once you have signed up, your customers are solicited for post purchase opinions and comments, all of which can then be used to give you a rating as a seller.

  1. Independent Review Websites

Google also has a list of review websites that have been approved to push Seller Ratings into Google PLAs and Google AdWords. There are 32 companies that you can check out by visiting the page in the link that we gave at the top.

The thing to note here is that although there are plenty of companies that provide online review services out there, only these 32, along with StellaConnect and Google Customer Reviews, have been approved to syndicate Seller Ratings.

Should you decide to do business with a company that is not on the list, the best that you can hope for are, in most cases, star ratings in organic traffic. Although this is equally important, the fact still remains that getting those ratings to appear in Google Shopping and in AdWords has a far greater impact in terms of growing your business.

Shopper Approved

Shopper is great Seller Ratings

We have tried out a number of companies that are on the above mentioned list and can safely say that Shopper Approved is one of the best that you could opt for. The great thing about this company is that not only is it one of the most affordable online review aggregators that can be found out there, but it is also one of the best in terms of service.

How much does Shopper Approved cost?

The thing that you need to know is that there are some review aggregating companies out there, like Yotpo, that do not even advertise their going rates, and others, like Trustpilot, whose plans begin at a slightly above average price. That is not the case with Shopper Approved. So, what can you expect to pay should you decide to sign up with this company?

Update: Shopper Approved no longer displays pricing, just like Yotpo. However, we know that they remain one of the most affordable for online reviews. We have referred over 300 people to them over the years, so you can be sure that we know what we are talking about here.

Shopper Approved Plans

Shopper Approved is generally cheaper than TrustPilot. Now you are going to need to call them to find out how much they are going to charge you. However, you get a discount when you sign up using our link. You also get 30 days free.

  1. Stella Service sucks! They rated my company without me knowing. Also, there’s nobody to contact to undo what they thing of my company.

    1. I have heard about that for many years now. You may want to call them to see if you can opt out of their service. It’s not like they asked you for your permission anyway.
