This blog post will be covering privacy policy seals for small, medium and large businesses. If you’re a small business, you may be wondering, “Why not copy/paste a privacy policy for free?” The answer is a legal one. You don’t want to misguide or misinform your customers. Imagine if a lawyer was one of your customers? Here comes a lawsuit! The reason for this blog post on privacy seals is to help your website increase more sales by increasing consumer confidence and to protect your company from lawsuits. You should be able to find a privacy seal that fits your company’s needs in the list below. We’ll start with the smallest and end with the largest. Please note that some companies charge a one-time fee while others charge a monthly fee.

Privacy-Policies-logo’s website is outdated so I’m not 100% sure they are compliant with all the latest laws. has a free version; however, they do mention, “Your privacy policy needs to be tailored to your website.” These guys are probably the cheapest ones out on the market.

Professional Privacy Policy is owned by Trust Guard. Trust Guard is a major player in the trust seal industry. The way this works is you’ll answer a bunch of questions. From there the software will generate HTML code which you copy and paste into your site.

Truste takes privacy to a completely different level. It’s basically for large sized companies that have an HR department. They actually look at the flow of information within your company. Based off the findings, they will write a privacy policy for you and make sure you are in compliance with all the latest laws. They have workshops on privacy and privacy risk. If you are dealing with company mergers, financial records, banking, medical records, SSNs, or anything that needs to be private for the consumer, choose Truste. Don’t choose any of the other sites listed here. Truste will also look at your internal operations.

Pricing – Depends on the size of your business. It’s probably really expensive so bust out you flea market negotiation skills.

    1. We had looked into Merchant Safe. We felt they should at least show a seal on their own site, which they don’t. The $39.99/mo for the seal may be a good price, it’s just that they do not provide enough information to justify the price.
