Is Facebook Advertising for Party and Wedding Planners?

The first question that I get from Party and Wedding Planners is, should we advertise on Facebook? My answer to that is; YES, OF COURSE! Facebook advertising is, frankly speaking, for most businesses. However, those that specialize in events planning are particularly geared to benefit from running Facebook Ads for the following reasons;

  • Facebook is massive! With over 2.3 million monthly active users, it’s very easy for businesses to find the right audiences for their products and services.
  • I can’t recall the number of times that I have been asked whether or not Facebook Ads are cheaper than Google Ads. The answer to this is, yes, running ads on Facebook tends to be cheaper than running ads on other platforms. Indeed, you can launch your very own Facebook Ads marketing campaign for as little as $10.
  • Facebook tends to have higher CTR and conversion rates than other advertising platforms. That’s because Facebook allows you to precisely target your audience using various tools, including location, interests, demographics and behavior.
  • Most of the people that get in touch prefer to have me run their Facebook advertising campaigns on their behalves. How to create your own Facebook Ads

There are 4 basic steps to the creation of a Facebook Ad
There are 4 basic steps to the creation of a Facebook Ad

Facebook Ads are created in Ads Manager. If you have a personal Facebook account, then you can easily sign into Ads Manager. The process of creating Facebook Ads has 4 steps;

  • Creating a campaign
  • Creating an Ad Account
  • Setting up the Ad Set
  • Creating the Ad

Creating a Campaign: Choose a Campaign Objective

Choosing a campaign objective is the first thing that you need to do when creating your own Facebook Ads. Facebook provides you with the following campaign objectives, from which you are required to choose one for every campaign;

  • Catalog sales
  • Conversions
  • Store visits
  • Lead generation
  • Brand awareness
  • Traffic
  • Reach
  • Engagement
  • App installs
  • Messages

Best Campaign Objective for Party and Wedding Planners

The choice of Campaign Objective that you are going to end up going with is, of course, going to be dependent on how you wish to structure your Facebook advertising campaign. If, as an example, you would like to raise brand awareness for you business, then that would be the Objective that you go with. The screenshot above shows some of the possible campaign objectives for party and wedding planners

For this example, we are going to choose Messages as our objective, for the simple reason that we want people who are looking for party and wedding planning services to immediately get in touch with us.

The Ad Set: Defining your target audience

Once you are done with the process of choosing the campaign objective for your Facebook advertising drive, the next thing that you need to do is define the people to whom you wish to have your ads delivered. Targeting is where most people who set out to create Facebook ads lose the plot.

Location

Location Party Planners
Where do you wish to have your Facebook Ads located?

This is the first port of call as far as defining the audience that you are targeting with your Facebook ads is concerned. Note that Facebook actually allows you to target a multiplicity of locations when it comes to the delivery of your ads. But what does this all mean in reality?

Some businesses are localized

One thing to note is that some businesses out there are highly localized. What this means is that they can only draw clients from a certain number of miles around them. This is opposed to, say, a business such as an online retailer, whose reach can be global.

When creating Facebook Ads for Party Planning and Wedding Coordinators, the one thing that you need to know is that these businesses are probably going to be limited in terms of reach to the towns in which they are based.

Age, Gender, Language

Use these settings to further define your target audience

Age is another setting that allows you to define your target audience when creating Facebook Ads for you business. Realistically speaking, not many people below the age of 20 are going to be looking to hire the services of party and wedding planners, so we are going to go with that number as our cut off point.

Language is a useful targeting parameter if you need to have your Facebook Ads delivered only to people who speak a particular language.

Though not unheard of, the chances that a man is going to be on the hunt for wedding planning services is rather slim. The same applies, to a limited extent, to party planning. For this reason, we are going to limit delivery of the Facebook ad that we are creating for our Party Planning and Wedding Coordinating business to women.

Detailed Targeting: Narrowing down on your target audience

When it comes to targeting for the Facebook Ads that you are creating for your business, this, without doubt, is the most important section. Its here that you determine, based on demographics, interests, and behaviors, the people to whom you wish to have your ads shown. For this example, we are going to target the following groups of people;

  • Engaged women
  • People who are friends with someone whose birthday is in 1 to 3 months
  • People with upcoming anniversaries
  • People who are interested in baby showers
