Before going into the details of how you can create Facebook Ads for your alcoholic beverages business, we first need to outline some of the restrictions that have been placed in this regard;
Once you have familiarized yourself with the local restrictions on alcohol and alcohol advertising, the next thing that you need to do when creating Facebook Ads for liquor stores is go into Ads Manager and begin the process of creating the ad itself. So, what does the process of creating Facebook Ads for liquor stores entail?
In Facebook Ads Manager, choosing an Objective is the first step on the way to creating Facebook Ads for your business. The Facebook Ad Objective is important, in that it determines the nature of the ad that you are going to create. Facebook provides you with the following Objectives, from which you can only choose one for each of the ads that you are creating;
Deciding on the appropriate Objective is crucial, because Facebook advertising is not just for the sake of it. You know what you want to achieve going in, and the Objective that you choose will set you along the right path in this regard.
For this example, we are going to assume that our liquor store is looking to create brand awareness within a radius of 3 miles around the physical location of the liquor store. As we will explain later, liquor stores are rather restricted when it comes to their areas of reach, which tends to limit the Geographic areas to which ads should be delivered.
You will notice that we are not, in this article, really handholding you as far as the step by step processes of creating Facebook ads for your business are concerned. What we are doing is touch on the key points, and, in Ads Manager, choosing your target audience is one of the most important steps when creating Facebook Ads for Liquor Stores.
The beauty about advertising on Facebook is that you can be extremely precise in the definition of your target audience. What this then does is ensure that the ads that you create are only delivered to people who are relevant to your business. This, in turn, increases your conversion rate, because your ads are not just being blindly broadcast to everyone on Facebook.
Facebook provides you with a number of tools, that allow you to narrow down on the people that you are targeting with your ads;
The Location setting allows you to clearly define the Geographic locations to which you wish to have your Facebook ads delivered. This can be either one place or multiple places in various parts of the globe. This would be useful if your business has outlets that are spread out around the world.
One thing that you need to take note of is that the nature of your business is going to determine the extent to which you will have your ads delivered. It wont be useful for a liquor store to have ads delivered throughout the country, unless of courses it is part of a chain that has outlets all over.
As we have already noted, we are going to have the ad that we are creating in this example delivered to people who live within a radius of 3 miles around the physical location of our store.
The age setting is important when creating Facebook Ads for Liquor Stores due to restrictions that exist in different countries on the sale of alcohol to minors. Make sure that you have understood the legal requirements in the country that you are targeting before creating your ad. For this example, we are going to go with 21, which is the legal limit in the state of California, where our hypothetical liquor store is located.
These are additional setting that you can use to further narrow down on your target audience when creating Facebook ads for your business. For this example, we are not going to target people who speak any single language. We are also going to have our ads delivered to both men and women.
The Detailed targeting section is, as far as we are concerned, the most important section when creating Facebook ads for your business. Just remember that Facebook is, even now, collection a wealth of information on its users, all of which you can exploit to make sure that the ads that you create for your business are delivered to the relevant target audience. For our liquor store, we are going to target people who have shown an interest in;
